Doubling Sales Nearly Put Small Auto-Parts Specialist Out of Business Until New Software Came to the Rescue
FALLS CHURCH, Va., July 31 -- With sales doubling each year, trying to keep track of an increased volume of inventory, orders, and customers at Mach V Motorsports (Falls Church, VA) nearly put this eight- person performance auto parts supplier out of business.
Mach V Motorsports outgrew its basic QuickBooks accounting software and graduated to a fully integrated, small business-management software solution from Icode, Inc. (www.icode.com), called Everest. Today, Mach V Motorsports can easily grow to 10 times its size, thanks to an easier way to manage the business.
"I felt that our infrastructure was going to collapse under the weight of our existing business," said Dan Hurwitz, owner/founder of Mach V Motorsports. "I was working six days a week with few vacations. Now I don't work every Saturday, and I have a much more normal family life."
As Mach V grew, the business reached the limits of its basic accounting software package. Basic programs such as Intuit's QuickBooks and Best Software's Peachtree are designed to handle accounting for new businesses, but fall short in managing other key areas of the business. For example, without the ability to manage purchasing, shipping and inventory, Mach V had to rely on cumbersome manual processes such as magnetic white-boards to track these functions.
Since all these areas of a small business are closely related, it's important to have the ability to manage all areas with a single, integrated system. In a recent survey of small businesses, over 80 percent said that they would consider replacing all of their separate software packages with a single solution that integrated all areas of the business.
By integrating all areas of its business with Icode's Everest software, Mach V has since:
-- Improved productivity by at least 55 percent -- Saved 30 percent of staff's time spent chasing down order status -- Implemented just-in-time inventory and drop-shipping
"Using Everest has transformed our business from a home business small fledgling bus to a much more mature normal operating business. Our business is now a going concern," said Hurwitz.
