iPower Technologies, Inc. Appoints New President - Combes to Become Vice Chairman

ANDERSON, Ind., July 30 -- iPower Technologies, Inc., manufacturer of distributed generation systems for homes and businesses, announces the appointment of James E. Luckman as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective August 1. John H. (Jack) Combes, current President and a founder of iPower, becomes Vice Chairman of the Board at that same date. "With the commercial release of the ENI 75, distributed generation unit, we need to move aggressively from the prototypes to production phase. Luckman's extensive engine management background is ideal to move us to the next level," said Jack Combes.

Luckman is currently an industry consultant specializing in company-wide transformations using lean principles as a lead strategy. He began his career at Delco Remy in 1974 as a project engineer, and later held various lead engineering assignments, including a term as Chief Engineer in Ignition Systems beginning in 1987. Other key assignments demonstrated lead roles in the development of the first microprocessor for automotive use, the Direct Ignition product for GM and expansion of business into Europe and Asia.

Luckman received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1970 from Tri-State University, Angola, Indiana, and a Master of Science in Computer Engineering from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, in 1974.

Jack Combes joined iPower as President in 2001 at its formation. He worked with Delco Remy International since it's founding in 1994 where he was Vice President of Business Planning and International Development. During this assignment, he participated in establishing a "global manufacturing capability" through acquisitions and joint ventures in Hungary, Poland, Germany, Mexico, Korea, India and Brazil. He began his career with the former Delco Remy Division of General Motors in 1971.

Combes received his undergraduate degree in Business Law at Bowling Green State University in 1970 and his MBA from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business in 1992.

iPower Technologies, Inc., was formed by AeroVironment and Delco Remy to pursue emerging opportunities in the distributed generation and hybrid electric vehicles markets. In addition to the technologies and resources provided by the partners, the new company maintains an extensive network of R & D firms that provides access to an even broader base of technical development.
