Terry Borcheller - Sonoma race
Terry Borcheller had a frustrating return to Ferrari racing in the American
Le Mans Series race at Infineon (Sears Point) Raceway in Sonoma, Calif.
Borcheller is an instructor at the Bondurant School of High Performance Driving in
Phoenix. He received his training as a Bondurant instructor at the 2.53-mile
Somona road course, so it's usually one of his favorites.
Borcheller's co-driver, Shane Lewis of Jupiter, Fla,, qualified the No. 63
ACEMCO Motorsports Ferrari 360 Modena GT 10th on the GT grid. Borcheller
started the race, but was unable to progress because of two unexpected pitstops.
Halfway through his one-hour stint, he encountered a right-rear tire pucture,
forcing the first pitstop. He pitted again a lap later because of a vibration
in the car. Lewis drove the final stint of the two-hour 45-minute race. The
pair finished 13th in class.
"There's not much to say," the disappointed Borcheller noted. "I got a
puncture, I came in. Something was rubbing on the car and I came in again. That
was it."
good news
Borcheller will travel to Portland this week, where he will speak to children
attending the Victory Racing Camp. The charitable program teaches values and
skills through the excitement of motorsport. In addition to his evening
speaking duties, Borcheller will help coach the students on track.
