ACS Wins BPO Contract With Florida's Department of Transportation

DALLAS, July 28 -- ACS , a premier provider of business process and information technology outsourcing solutions, announced today that it has been awarded a contract to operate the oversize/overweight permitting office for the State of Florida's Department of Transportation. The contract is valued at $4.7 million over a five-year period.

"This partnership is a win-win," said Sharon Holmes, chief highway engineer for the Florida Department of Transportation. "We face dwindling state resources and this agreement allows us to maintain and improve our service delivery to our trucking customers while ensuring state oversight for the safe use of our highway system."

ACS will staff and operate Florida's permitting office located in Tallahassee. The office serves Florida's 3,600 trucking companies that require special permits for oversize or overweight loads. The state office also issues regional permits for multi-state trips.

"This contract represents a significant step in ACS' growing transportation business," said John Brophy, Group President of ACS State and Local Solutions. "Credentialing and permitting are key services offered by states and ACS is proud to help in their delivery."
