Solid Day for Coors Light team at Pocono
LONG POND, Penn. (July 27, 2003) --- Sterling Marlin and the Coors Light team would love to race in the Pocono Mountains every weekend. Marlin has scored a top-10 finish in his last four races at Pocono Raceway; two of those being top-5 finishes.
Marlin and his No. 40 Coors Light Dodge had a solid day in the Pennsylvania 500 on Sunday which brought him home to a 10th place finish and stabilized him in the 15th place spot in NASCAR Championship points.
Marlin qualified for the 200-lap race in 20th position and at the start of the race he gradually moved up through the field and entered the top-10 by lap 38. Marlin continued to race his Coors Light Dodge in the top-10 for the remainder of the day. Marlin was very pleased with his car and the team made only a few adjustments during the day to their 10th place finish.
"We had a good car today, definitely a top-5 car but not a winner," Marlin said. "It's good to have a 10th place finish after the last two races we've had. The big money is next weekend at the Brickyard. It's ok to finish 10th here as long as we're in the hunt for the win next weekend."
The Coors Light team will race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway this Sunday. The Brickyard 400 will be broadcast live on NBC television and IMS radio on August 3 at 1:30 p.m. CT.
