KENT, Wash. (July 26, 2003) - Last weekend at Bandimere Speedway in Denver,
Colorado, Scotty Cannon defeated NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series Funny Car
points leader Tony Pedregon in the first round, which helped his teammate
Whit Bazemore, who's second to Pedregon in the championship, gain some
points towards the title.
Tomorrow, the driver of the Oakley Funny Car has another opportunity to
eliminate a driver from the John Force camp, team owner John Force himself.
Cannon, who has qualified for each of the 14 events so far, grabbed the No.
14 position in the third round of qualifying today, with a 5.163/278.75
pass. Force qualified in third.
"Tony Pedregon is one of the toughest men out here," said Cannon. "It's
nothing personal. He's bad. But he can be beat. Everybody knows that John
can be beat, 'cause that's been proven all year. But all those Force boys
know I love them over there."
