Auberlen's BMW on Speed Touring Pole at Infineon

Saturday, July 26, 2003 Race Date: Sunday, July 27, 2003 Contact: Bill Cobb 215-295-3115 AUBERLEN'S BMW ON SPEED TOURING POLE FOR ROUND 5 AT INFINEON; JONSSON TO START FOURTH Bill Auberlen put his No. 93 Turner Motorsport BMW 325i on the pole (1:52.395) for Round 5 of the SCCA Pro Racing Speed Touring Championship at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif. He accomplished this only minutes after securing the pole in his No. 7 BMW Team PTG M3 in the Speed GT class. Auberlen achieved the same double-pole one month ago in Round 4 at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Ga., and won the Touring race that weekend. Today's Touring pole is Auberlen's third of the season and he currently leads the Touring Driver's Championship standings. Benefiting from Auberlen's wins at Sebring, Lime Rock and Road Atlanta and top-10 finishes by a number of other BMW Touring teams, BMW also tops the Manufacturer's Championship standings. Nic Jonsson qualified his No. 27 Lectric Air/Tecmark 325Ci fourth (1:53.161) after topping the 35-car field in yesterday's practice.
