Can-Am Mosport Raounds Three and Four

The Diablo Energy Drink Can-Am 125GP Series ran rounds three and four in a
"Big Kahuna" style format July 18-20.
Saturdays race was a classic five way battle to the flag with Chris Peris
taking the win. Peris, series points leader Corey Sherman, Yvan Desy, Jim
Struke and 2002 champ Stuart Nodell battled for the entire twelve lap
event.
The lead group of five were never separated by more than four tenths of a
second until just after the half way flags when they ran into traffic and
Peris, who had been in third, made his way to the front and was able to
grab a two second lead. While Peris was never able to stretch that lead,
the remaining four riders continued to battle to the flag. At the
checkers second through fifth had just a three tenths of a second gap.
Veteran Jim Struke took a hard fought second place while 2002 series champ
Stuart Nodell took the final podium spot. Current points leader Corey
Sherman was fourth and Yvan Desy took fifth on his 47th birthday.
Sunday's race was interrupted by rain on lap four by rain and red flags.
One of the people who fell when the rains came was Chris Peris. Chris who
was trying for a three-pete, after winning Saturdays race and the 2002
race at Mosport, was unable to continue after hurting his knee into he
fall.
Yvan Desy, on his Canadian National Defense sponsored machine took the
lead on the restart and grabbed a commanding lead for the first two
laps. 2002 series champ Stuart Nodell On his Canada Post sponsored bike,
was determined to make up for his DNF at round two in Loudon and but in
some stellar lap times in the wet. Nodell was able to get around Desy and
gap the rest of the field. Nodell would go on to take a twelve second
victory over Christian Rose and Desy.
