JIMMY KITE TO RACE WITH ALL STARS
JIMMY KITE TO RACE WITH ALL STARS
STOCKBRIDGE, Ga., July 24, 2003 - Four-time Indianapolis 500 starter
Jimmy Kite will join the All Star Circuit of Champions for two events
this week. Kite will race the Joe Reddick-owned winged "outlaw" sprint
car at The New Capital Speedway in Holts Summit, Mo. on Friday, July 25,
and at St. Francois Co. Speedway in Farmington, Mo. on Saturday, the
26th. The Farmington event holds special meaning for Kite who owns a
home just five miles from the raceway but has not raced on the track in
five years. The popular IRL IndyCar Series regular will be making his
first career start with the touring All Star sprint cars. However, the
26 year old races the yellow and blue Maxim chassis with a Foxco built
engine at Benton, Missouri's Auto Tire and Parts NAPA Racepark on
weekends that do not conflict with USAC Silver Crown Series or IndyCar
Series events where he is scheduled to compete.
"This is going to be a busy week for me testing the Westcon Elevators'
Silver Crown car at IRP [Indianapolis Raceway Park] on Thursday and
racing Joe's sprint car twice," commented Kite. "I have a lot of friends
over in the All Star Circuit and I'm really looking forward to racing
with those guys. The All Stars is one of the toughest touring sprint car
shows out there and to do well you have to be at the top of your game.
I'm pretty confident though. We have been working well with Joe's team
all year and I know we can run well. I'm really excited about getting to
race in Farmington! I haven't been there since 1999 and it'll be the
first time since then that Joe has had both the 12 [Kite's car] and the
12X [Kite's teammate Robbie Standridge] at the track. I fell in love
with racing at Farmington when I was a kid so I am really excited about
getting out there and racing. "
Kite began his career racing quarter-midgets at the age of eight and
worked his way up through mini-sprints, USAC midgets, sprint cars and
Silver Crown cars to the Indy Racing League. He is a five-time national
champion in various open-wheel series with countless victories. He has a
career total of 23 Indy Racing IndyCar Series event starts and
$1,505,565 in career IRL earnings. He has raced four times in the
Indianapolis 500.
