Exide Technologies Launches Unique Battery Program
PRINCETON, N.J., July 23 -- Exide Technologies (BULLETIN BOARD: EXDTQ) (www.exide.com ), a global leader in stored electrical-energy solutions, has launched its 2003 EMT (Electrical Master Technician) Select program, an innovative installer sales support program unique to the battery industry.
Developed by the Exide Technologies Transportation Business Group, the EMT Select Program is a complete electrical system sales and service program targeted to automotive repair centers. It helps Exide's installer customers boost their battery sales through a program component that helps protect motorists from being left stranded by an unexpected battery failure.
The program integrates new products and services designed to help Exide customers uncover additional battery and electrical sales opportunities. The 2003 Exide EMT Select program package is the result of a collaborative effort among three industry leaders. The package consists of several components, the new MCR500XL battery / system tester by Midtronics; the Pulsar-10 Battery Power Maintainer by PulseTech Products Corporation; premium Exide NASCAR Select branded batteries; and a complete package of promotional marketing materials, complemented by a "points-for-purchase" customer loyalty rewards program.
* The MCR500XL battery tester allows the automotive repair technician to test a vehicle's electrical system in about 60 seconds. The tester is an easy-to-use, hand-held device that quickly identifies vehicle electrical system problems and documents the test results in paper printout for the vehicle owner. The new tester diagnoses the battery's state of health, helping the technician to better understand the potential for impending battery failure and allowing battery replacement if necessary. Full use of the program also gives repair shop owners an additional opportunity for battery and related electrical parts sales, and billable service hours, all while helping protect their valued customers from being left stranded by an unexpected battery or system failure. * The Pulsar-10 Battery Power Maintainer is an innovative, 10-unit battery power maintenance system. Since lead-acid batteries will naturally discharge over time or while in storage, this system keeps new 12-volt lead-acid batteries fully charged while they are on the installer shelf. This system helps assure installers and end user customers that a newly installed battery is fully charged and will provide maximum power and performance. * The EMT Select product line consists of premium Exide NASCAR Select branded 60, 72 and 84-month automotive starting batteries. The heavy duty, vibration-resistant construction of the Exide NASCAR Select product line provides enhanced durability under harsh operating conditions. * Outdoor signage, an informative consumer and technician training poster, NASCAR logo caps and other promotional marketing materials help the Exide customer market the program. * Another unique feature of the EMT Select program is the innovative customer points-for-purchase program that is managed online via a special section on the Exide Technologies Web site, www.exide.com . Customers can earn points by participating in the program. Exide sets up the member account online, allowing the member to track the status of their rewards, learn about updates to the program and select from six categories of premiums, including electronics, workshop, housewares, outdoors, gifts and children's items.
"Exide Technologies has been earning trust as an innovative battery supplier," said David G. Enstone, president of the Exide Technologies Transportation Business Group. "We will continue to raise the bar in providing innovative, pull through, profit-driving solutions to and through our customers."
