Auto-Q International Inc. Signs Agreement With UK Based Furniture Giant MFI

LONDON, July 21 -- Auto-Q International Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: AUTQ) , a leading provider of vehicle tracking and monitoring systems for trucking fleets and consumers, announced today that it has received purchase orders from furniture and housewares chain MFI to outfit its vehicles with its FleetTrak Tracking System.

The United Kingdom based furniture and housewares chain MFI is the largest retailer of kitchens and bedrooms and integrated appliances in the UK with a market share of over 30% -- more than twice the nearest rival. MFI is using tracking technology from vehicle monitoring specialist Auto-Q to save tens of thousands of pounds in fuel across its delivery fleet.

Auto-Q's FleetTrak uses a combination of GPS technology and GSM signalling to provide detailed management reports on each vehicle. By measuring fuel consumption to an accuracy of better than 1 per cent, it is enabling MFI to monitor and improve driver performance -- and to compare fuel consumption between trucks.

The company's fleet currently has 156 vehicles, divided between depots in Northampton, Runcorn and Hull and serving a network of 280 MFI stores and 370 Howden Joinery outlets throughout the United Kingdom. Their average mileage is 120,000 a year.

"FleetTrak was a great help in helping us to select the more economical vehicle," said MFI Transport Manager Mick Owen. "We looked at several systems, but Auto-Q's is the only one that can be fitted to any vehicle. We have confidence in Auto-Q because of their independent status -- they have no involvement with any of the truck makers and they give us an excellent service.

Mike Owen continued, "We are replacing 15 primary vehicles this year and the FleetTrak data will help us to make the choice. Until now we have had to rely on monitoring fuel station figures, but the figures are of limited accuracy because of differences in the way drivers fill up.

Auto Q International recently announced that its FleetTrak System has been installed on 225 vehicles of the Pepsi Cola Subsidiary Walkers (Snacks) Distribution Ltd fleet. Walkers Distribution reported fuel savings in the region of five per cent.

FleetTrak is a complete 'black box' asset management tool. Data transmitted from the cab enables a fleet operator to monitor position, direction, speed, fuel flow, engine speed and braking, painting a complete picture of what the vehicle is doing and how it is being driven. The data can be used to compile regular vehicle management reports, revealing how both vehicle and driver are performing. An optional in-cab monitor enables the drivers to use the data themselves to improve their driving. FleetTrak users report a 5-10% fuel saving across a typical mixed fleet, and the system provides the operator with a safeguard against risky or impatient driving and the potentially disastrous results.
