Japan to test satellite-based broadband with 6 Asian nations
TOKYO July 19, 2003; Japan Today reported that Japan will test a satellite-based broadband Internet transmission technology with six other Asian countries, starting in September, the Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs, Posts and Telecommunications said Friday.
The trial will involve conducting high-speed, large-capacity data transmission by linking universities and research institutes in Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam via a satellite and the Internet, the ministry said. (Kyodo News)
