Federal-Mogul Introduces Online Order Management System For North American Aftermarket Distributors
SOUTHFIELD, Mich., July 17 -- Federal-Mogul Corporation has introduced an online customer service system that enables North American vehicle parts distributors to enter and manage product orders through the company's popular FMeConnect global Web portal.
Available immediately to distributors who are registered users of FMeConnect, the new system is designed to serve as a one-stop business resource. It allows distributors to quickly and efficiently manage a full range of transactions, including order entry, part availability checking, order status inquiries, access to electronic catalog and parts interchange data, shipment tracking, and backorder reporting.
The system covers a broad range of popular Federal-Mogul aftermarket brands and product lines, including Moog(R) chassis parts, Wagner(R) brake products, Sealed Power(R) engine components, Speed-Pro(R) engine parts, Carter(R) fuel systems, Fel-Pro(R) gaskets, FP-Diesel(R) heavy-duty engine parts, National(R)/BCA(R) bearings and seals, Precision(R) U-joints, and Abex(R) brakes. Federal-Mogul plans to add Champion(R) spark plugs and wires, Wagner(R) lighting products and Anco(R) wipers to the system during the fourth quarter of 2003.
"This important new tool enables distributors to manage their relationships with Federal-Mogul in a more efficient and cost-effective way through the power of e-commerce," said Joe Felicelli, senior vice president, worldwide aftermarket operations, Federal-Mogul. "We want to be distributors' most versatile and valuable supplier, and Web-based systems can play a major part in this daily effort."
Developed on the basis of extensive customer research, the new Web order management system already is handling approximately 5,000 transactions per week but can process well over that volume, according to Gary Heikes, manager, FMeConnect order management. "We expect the number of registered users to explode as distributors learn how easy and powerful this new tool really is," he said. "Registered users can follow virtually any order from entry to delivery to their loading dock without picking up the telephone or sending a fax. It's a much faster, easier system that enables our customers to more effectively apply their administrative resources."
Access to the new system is available through the FMeConnect portal on the www.federal-mogul.com global Web site. Distributors can register for password access to the system's secure functions by contacting their Federal-Mogul sales or customer service representative.
