Optum Names Charles Rafferty Vice President, Sales
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.--July 14, 2003--Optum, Inc. today announced it has named Charles Rafferty as its vice president of sales. The appointment strengthens Optum's operations by adding to its ranks a proven performer whose leadership and extensive supply chain sales experience have translated into strong revenue growth for his companies.
Rafferty joins Optum as the company extends its lead in Fulfillment Lifecycle Management (FLM), a solutions-focused approach to supply chain management that places a premium on driving customer value. It begins with understanding a company's fulfillment processes, identifies key areas for improvement, and marshals the appropriate personnel, technology and services to transform those processes.
Coming off five successive quarters of profitability, Optum has found success with this approach, distinguishing itself as a trusted partner - consistently delivering value on time, as promised - with an elite group of clients, including Avnet, Home Shopping Network, Lucent and Pier 1 Imports, just to name a few. Rafferty will play a pivotal role in advancing Optum's Fulfillment Lifecycle Management leadership across key markets, including aerospace, automotive, high-tech & electronics, retail and wholesale distribution.
"The old rules of software sales are dead," said David J. Simbari, president and CEO of Optum. "Customers don't want a dog-and-pony show, and they don't want to invest huge amounts of capital in hopes that they'll someday get a return on investment.
"At Optum, we're responding to the needs of a more demanding, and discriminating, business user by offering an experience unique in our industry. We deliver a holistic approach to improving fulfillment processes based on knowledge, experience, service, and technology. Along the way, we forge partnerships with our clients built on mutual trust, shared risk and reward, and a singular focus on value creation. Delivering on these values requires the versatility and savvy we see in Charles Rafferty: we are happy to have him on our team."
Prior to joining Optum, Rafferty held senior sales positions at a number of supply chain and enterprise software companies, including Prescient Systems, Logility and Dun & Bradstreet.
