Mopar Announces ŒBig Block Party¹ for Downtown Golden
Second Annual Event To Kick Off Mopar Mile-High Nationals
GOLDEN, Colo. (July 11, 2003) -- The second annual Mopar ŒBig Block Party¹
will take to the streets of downtown Golden, in celebration of the Mopar
Mile-High Nationals at historic Bandimere Speedway. Activities are set to
kick off Thursday, July 17 at 6 p.m., MST.
The national unveiling of Whit Bazemore¹s new Mopar ŒBling Bling¹ Funny Car
paint scheme should highlight this high-energy event. Also present will be
Gary Scelzi¹s Dodge Stratus -- the fastest Funny Car in NHRA history at
328.06 mph.
³This is our way of saying Œthanks¹ to all of our great Mopar racers,
employees, customers, fans and supporters,² said Kevin Miller, Mopar Brand
Excitement Manager. ³Downtown Golden is a perfect place to hold this event,
and we feel it is a great way to celebrate the longest current running
sponsorship of an NHRA national event.²
This is the 15th year Mopar has sponsored the Mopar Mile-High Nationals at
Bandimere Speedway.
Participants will also have the opportunity to get the signatures of their
favorite Mopar factory drivers such as Bazemore, Scelzi and Pro Stock
standouts Darrell Alderman, Allen Johnson, Larry Morgan and Gene Wilson
starting at 7 p.m., MST.
Mopar will be distributing event tickets to the Denver-area Chrysler Dealers
and employees; as well as Mopar race teams and Mopar employees. The Mopar
ŒBig Block Party¹ is also open to the public, with tickets offered at $15.
The admission cost includes a variety of food and beverage, on-going
entertainment, a free poster of Bazemore¹s Dodge Stratus Funny Car, entry to
the driver autograph session and access to the national unveiling.
