Shelby Victory Tour and ``Eleanor'' G.T.500E to Shine at American Century Celebrity Golf Tourney

    SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Nev.--July 11, 2003--One of America's hottest celebs, a Shelby "Eleanor" G.T.500E, will join Mark McGwire, Michael Jordan, Mario Lemieux and Marshall Faulk at Lake Tahoe's American Century Championship on July 18-20, 2003. The "star car" and a genuine Shelby Cobra will shine alongside a field of sports and entertainment superstars at the celebrity golf event. As an added incentive, the first golfer to hit a hole in one on the 7th hole of the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course will win a Shelby G.T.500E.
    The cars are part of the Shelby Victory Tour that celebrates the accomplishments of legendary racecar driver and manufacturer Carroll Shelby. The tour gives individuals the opportunity to experience authentic Shelby vehicles. Cars on display will include a Shelby 427 "Phantom" Cobra and two Shelby Eleanor G.T.500Es, which are similar to the one in the hit movie Gone in 60 Seconds. The Tour will be at the South Lake Tahoe Edgewood Golf Course from Thursday through Sunday.

    The Shelby G.T.500E is the first in a limited edition series. To build the continuation Shelbys, vintage 1967 and 1968 Ford Mustangs are "rescued" for transformation. Each Eleanor G.T.500E comes with a powerful Ford V8, performance brakes, roll bar, stereo, 17" wheels, side exhaust, air conditioning and sequential taillights. The "Super Snake" version has an all-aluminum 525 horsepower Shelby 427 FE motor; a Shelby Performance designed supercharger is optional.
    Eleanor will be joined by a "Phantom Cobra," which features aluminum 427 FE Shelby motors, special badges, custom paint and high performance equipment. Shelby Cobras are available in big block 427 S/C, FIA or 289 small block body styles. A supercharger is available for big block Cobras.
    This is the first time the Shelby Victory Tour has stopped at the American Century Championship Tournament, which will raise funds for families of soldiers killed or seriously injured in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Over thirty stops are planned at major automotive events across the United States in 2003.
