CTS Automotive Products Taiwan Facility Awarded Registration to QS-9000 Quality Management Systems Standard

    ELKHART, Ind.--July 11, 2003--CTS Corporation today announced that its Automotive Products manufacturing facility located in Kaohsiung, Taiwan was recently awarded QS-9000 certification by ABS Quality Evaluations, Inc., a global registration/certification company. QS-9000 was developed by a joint U.S. Original Equipment Manufacturers Supplier Quality Requirements Task Force as an extension of ISO-9001, to provide a unique and definitive automotive supplier quality system. The goal of QS-9000 is the development of fundamental quality systems that provide for continuous improvement, defect prevention and the reduction of variation and waste in the supply chain.
    In 2001, CTS Automotive Products implemented plans to establish its first Asian manufacturing site for automotive sensor products at the existing CTS Taiwan facility. The Taiwan location was selected for the production expansion because of its strong operations team and in-place manufacturing expertise and efficiency. The initial production of automotive sensors began in 2002 with the launch of the Small Engine Throttle Position Sensor, principally for the Asian market. Opening the Taiwan automotive manufacturing site represents the first step in expanding CTS automotive operations in Asia.
    The Taiwan facility joins the other CTS Automotive QS-9000 certified locations, which include facilities in Elkhart and Berne, Indiana; Streetsville, Ontario, Canada; High Blantyre, Scotland; and Matamoros, Mexico.
