CCC Information Services Signs 1,600th Customer Of CCC Connect in Just Six Months

    CHICAGO--July 10, 2003--

Virtual Private Network Increases Transfer of Claims Information By Up to Ten Times of Traditional Dial-Up Connection

CCC Information Services Inc. reached a milestone as the 1,600th customer began use of CCC Connect(TM), its six-month-old virtual private network (VPN) that establishes a secure environment for the rapid transfer of claims information. CCC is a leading supplier of information and technology solutions to the auto-claims and collision-repair industries.
CCC Connect allows customers that use CCC Pathways(R) Estimating Solution, software that helps improve the speed and efficiency of the automotive repair estimating process, to use their broadband Internet connection instead of a standard dial-up modem to send estimates and other claims information up to ten times faster than traditional dial-up connections.
"We put a lot of time and resources into understanding what our customers need to better manage their businesses," said Jim Dickens, senior vice president of product development and marketing for CCC. "The ability to send and receive estimate more quickly and efficiently is something we continue to hear. Because we've seen such a demand for CCC Connect, we know that we've been successful in responding to our customers and fulfilling an important need for them."
Using a VPN, customers transfer CCC Pathways data via their existing Internet Service Provider (ISP). While using CCC Connect, the user maintains two distinct connections -- to CCC and to the Internet. At the beginning of each day, a user enters an authorized username and password on a login screen, creating a secure link between his or her computer and CCC. The user then can connect to CCC through CCC Pathways Estimating Solution, while continuing to access the Internet.
"CCC Connect eliminates our need for costly multiple fax and Internet lines because we can leverage our existing Internet connection to communicate with CCC via CCC Pathways Estimating Solution," said Orvil Shindoll, owner of Orvil's Collision Center, who recently became the 1600th customer. "The security of the VPN allows me to transfer data without worrying about it."
Shindoll, a 20-year industry veteran, spent most of his career with Service King Collision Repair and the Collision Team of America before opening Orvil's Collision Center on June 9, 2003. The 11,000 square-foot facility in Cedar Hill, Texas employs six technicians.
CCC Connect uses a combination of secure sockets-layer (SSL) encryption and proxy technologies to access Web and corporate applications. It provides multiple layers of authentication and data encryption between Web servers and Web browsers for the secure transfer of information. CCC Connect is compatible with most VPNs and also with most major firewalls since it only requires that standard ports remain open to Internet traffic. CCC offers training and installation assistance for customers.
