Miller Heads to Cleveland

Johnny Miller is Coming to Cleveland to Win
CLEVELAND - Johnny Miller, driver of the No. 64 Eaton Cutler-Hammer Jaguar XKR, is set to reclaim the Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich® Tires Cup points lead when the Series comes to Burke Lakefront Airport for the US Bank Presents the Cleveland Grand Prix weekend, July 3-4. Miller, currently in second place in the Drivers' Championship, wants both his second win of the season and points lead heading into the second half of the season.

For Miller, his 2003 season has been dedicated to winning his first championship. With four strong podium finishes in the first five races this season, Miller has high expectations for the Cleveland race circuit.

"Cleveland is a great circuit, and I really enjoy racing here," said Miller, who has six Trans-Am Series starts at Cleveland. "What makes Cleveland so great is that it's a high-speed track with tight, low-gear corners and multiple fast sweeping corners. Because the track is so flat, it allows you to see more of the track and see where your competitors are. And the fans get a great view of all the racing action from the grandstands, too.

"I would have to say that the reference points would be the most difficult part of the track," added Miller, who has two podium finishes at Cleveland, finishing second in 2000 and third in 2001. "When you're racing on a wide open parcel like the Burke Lakefront circuit, it becomes difficult to pick a spot on the track where you need to start braking for the various corners.

"With the track being an active airport, it makes this race an even keel deal; no teams can test at the track," continues Miller, who made his Winston Cup debut at Infineon Raceway this year, finishing 24th on the lead lap. "Your previous years' experience, your notes on setup, and what you learn in practice are all that you have to go on, so it has a lot of the same characteristics of a street course."

Round 6 of the Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich® Tires Cup is set to take place Friday, July 4th, at approximately 5:40 p.m. EST. The race will be televised on SPEED Channel on a tape-delay basis Sunday, July 6 at 3:30 p.m. EDT.
