Engineous Software and Fluent Sign FIPER Vendor Participant MOU; Fluent to provide a CFD component for the FIPER infrastructure

CARY, N.C.--July 1, 2003--Engineous Software, Inc., provider of award-winning integration, automation, and design improvement software and related strategic services, announced today the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Engineous and Fluent Inc. Fluent, the world's largest provider of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software and consulting services, has agreed to join the FIPER Vendor Participant program to provide a CFD component as part of the FIPER solution. Fluent will join the growing team of software and hardware vendors, universities, and service providers who will participate in the creation of FIPER-enabled technologies.
"Fluent's participation in the FIPER program represents the expansion of an already solid partnership," said Janet C. Wylie, President and CEO of Engineous. "We have delivered real world successes to our mutual clients by combining the power of Fluent and iSIGHT. We expect that success to continue and to expand in the FIPER environment, putting that power into the hands of even more users."
Fluent and Engineous will initially team to gather requirements, develop, implement, and test components in conjunction with FIPER pilot projects being executed in real world customer environments. Several pilot projects and demonstrations are underway in major manufacturing organizations such as GE, Parker Hannifin, Goodrich, and Honeywell.
"Our customers are increasingly interested in deploying CFD analysis within their overall design environment," says Paul Bemis, VP of Product Strategy. "We are excited to work with our clients who are adopting the FIPER infrastructure, and look forward to providing access to FLUENT from within FIPER."

    About FIPER

The FIPER project is a four-year $21.5 million project co-funded by the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) as part of its Advanced Technology Program. FIPER establishes a "Federated Intelligent Product EnviRonment" that streamlines the design of engineered products, integrating legacy and best-of-breed analytical and design tools through a web-enabled environment. Vendor participants will be responsible for adapting their products to work in the FIPER environment. The FIPER joint venture team is comprised of a synergistic group of large, medium, and small companies, including the commercialization agent (Engineous Software, Inc.), manufacturing companies (Goodrich, General Electric, OAI, and Parker Hannifin), and universities (Ohio University and Stanford University). This team will develop, demonstrate, and disseminate FIPER technology. Engineous will deliver the first version of the commercial product in the summer of 2003.
