Nissan To Unveil Device That Cools, Cleans Air
WASHINGTON June 30, 2003; Dow Jones reported that Japan's Nissan Motor Co. and Sharp Corp. jointly developed a car air-conditioner that also cleans air inside the car, the major daily Yomiuri Shimbun reported on its Web site Monday.
The two companies claim that the device that both cools down and sanitizes air is the first of a kind in the world and will formally announce the new product Tuesday, the report said.
The new equipment will reduce airborne mold and bacteria inside the car by 90% through decomposing moisture into hydrogen and oxygen, the report said.
Nissan will at first equip its compact cars with the new air-conditioner and gradually expand its installation to other types of cars, the daily said.
