Buick Rainier 'Climbs to the Summit' With Multiplayer Game Competitions Developed by Flipside
Automaker Taps the Power of Online Games To Bolster the Introduction of Its Brand New Sport Utility Vehicle
LOS ANGELES, June 30 -- Driving brand interaction, brochure requests and a database of qualified leads for the launch of the Buick Rainier, Flipside, Inc., today announced the launch of the Buick Rainier Climb to the Summit Challenge, an online entertainment suite featuring interactive game competitions at buick.uproar.com .
The Climb to the Summit provides multiplayer competitions where users play Golf, Collapse and Billiards competitions to earn Rainier Points -- drawing entries for a Plasma TV and other prizes. By entering two, four and eight player game groups users test their skills against other competitors. Additionally, the multi-platform program provides branded PDA versions of Bejeweled and Collapse games, which users can download for "practice on the go."
"Buick's goal was to connect a sense of accomplishment with Rainier, and the Climb to the Summit program meets that objective by leveraging a competition structure that rewards every participant," said Craig Teich, Flipside's Director of Publishing. "As players are entertained through the Flipside developed program, they learn about the Rainier and its attributes within the context of their own achievements."
The program is part of a multi-pronged effort to launch the new Buick Rainier, Buick's first truck-based sport utility vehicle. The branded mini-site includes a link to a downloadable PDF brochure, database opt-in opportunities, as well as logical connections to the Rainier website. In addition, co-branded placements and newsletter promotion on the Flipside Network are provided to support the three-month promotion.

The program also includes a unique challenge-a-friend feature that allows users to play one-on-one game competitions with other players who they refer. The viral nature of this e-mail based component will support the promotion of the Climb to the Summit Challenge to a mass audience.
