Enterprise Rent-A-Car Accelerates as Summer Begins; Leisure Rental Reservations Heat up with Summer Travel Season; Company Sees Healthy Growth in Office Locations, Fleet

ST. LOUIS--June 30, 2003--Enterprise Rent-A-Car, North America's largest rental car company, is expanding its industry leadership.
One area of explosive growth for Enterprise during the last three months has been in the leisure rental market--renting in neighborhoods for fun or function. Enterprise has logged an increase in reservations for the 4th of July weekend greater than 20 percent over the same period last year.
The last three months also saw Enterprise open 75 neighborhood branches, increasing the company's worldwide locations to more than 5,400. The company anticipates the size of its rental fleet will grow approximately 4-to-5 percent this summer - a remarkable development in an industry that saw an overall fleet decrease in 2002. The company now has a rental fleet of 550,000 vehicles, bringing its total rental and leasing fleet to nearly 700,000.
"This is solid, sustainable fleet growth that's driven by customer demand," said Andy Taylor, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Enterprise Rent-A-Car. "It's growth that comes from carefully listening to customers and always being on the lookout for new opportunities to serve them."
Though Enterprise is the leader in the neighborhood rental car market, one relatively new contributor to the company's success is at airports. Enterprise opened 11 new on-site airport locations in the last three months and plans to open up to 30 more on-site locations in the next 12 months. Recently opened airport branches include Wichita, Kan.; Grand Rapids, Mich.; and Quebec City, bringing Enterprise's total on-airport locations to 139.

Other highlights from the last three months:

-- The expansion of Enterprise Fleet Services -- servicing businesses and organizations with fleets of 15-125 cars -- to a record 122,000 vehicles.
-- An innovative rate plan for Enterprise Corporate Class Customers that provides a simplified rate plan across North America.
-- New Enterprise Rent-A-Truck locations in Washington state and Georgia.
