BMW Team PTG Adds a Fifth M3 for Round 5 at Road Atlanta

A fifth Team PTG M3 driven by former 2000 and 2001 Team PTG driver Nic
Jonsson was entered in the race early this morning.

"Team PTG purchased the McMillin Motorsports M3 and we intend to use it as a
spare team car for the remainder of the season," said PTG Team owner Tom
Milner. "Nic Jonsson drove it for us in yesterday's test session and
everything went so well, the decision was made to enter the car in the
race."

After the end of the second of today's two 20-minute practice sessions for
tomorrow's Round 5 race of the SCCA Pro Racing Speed GT Championship the
five BMW Team PTG M3s stood fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and 12th fastest
around the
2.54-mile, 12-turn Road Atlanta road course in Braselton, Ga.

Bill Auberlen's No. 7 BMW Team PTG M3 was fourth with a lap of 1:30.089.
Hans Stuck was fifth (1:30.337), Nic Jonsson sixth (1:30.438), Boris Said
seventh (1:30.847) and Justin Marks 12th (1:31.477).

Each of the BMW Team PTG driver's fastest times was set in the cooler
temperatures of this morning's session. In the heat of the afternoon session
Hans Stuck paced the 27-car GT field with a lap of 1:30.902.

Tomorrow's single 20-minute qualifying session is scheduled for 10:10 a.m.
with the 50-minute race scheduled to start at 4:20 p.m.

HANS STUCK, NO.8 BMW TEAM PTG M3:
"After each test session yesterday and this morning's practice session I sat
down with Tom Milner and we had very good discussions about the M3's set-up.
In the last session today the track was much hotter, but we were the
fastest, so I have to give a lot of the credit to Tom."

BORIS SAID, NO. 6 BMW TEAM PTG M3:
"We had a problem with a failing front suspension piece yesterday, so we
lost some time in finding our set-up. The track felt quite greasy in the
last session, but the M3 stayed quite consistent." IS THERE ANY COMPARISON
BETWEEN THIS SPEED GT M3 AND THE M3 GTR YOU DROVE HERE IN 2001?  "The M3 is
the ultimate driving machine and the M3 GTR is the ultimate racing machine,
so I would be lying if I said that I did not miss the GTR. In comparison,
this Speed GT M3 is basically a production car, but it is amazing how good
it is."

BILL AUBERLEN, NO. 7 BMW TEAM PTG M3:
"We went a little wayward in set-up in the last session today, so we will go
over the notes and see if we can put the pieces of the puzzle together. I
don't think the heat was a factor for us in the final session. We just
missed it."

JUSTIN MARKS, NO. 80 BMW TEAM PTG M3:
"We have been chasing a push since we unloaded and have had some fuel
pressure problems, but we believe we have solved the fuel problem and we are
getting closer to having enough front grip. We made a lot of aero changes
that have stuck the M3 in the high-speed corners, but we still have to find
a bit more front grip in the slower corners. I think some shock changes and
a new set of tires will have the No. 80 M3 ready for qualifying."

NIC JONSSON, NO. 9 BMW TEAM PTG M3:
"We changed the car quite a bit from the first session hoping to gain more
front grip, but we still have room for improvement. I don't think that we
are too far away from where we need to be, but we have a bit of work to do
tonight."
