Atlanta Braves Team Up with Highway Safety Partners to Ensure Safety at the Ballpark and on Roadways Statewide this 4th of July
Fourth of July is Traditionally Deadly Time on the Highways WHAT: Regional launch of Operation Zero Tolerance You Drink & Drive. You Lose., a national law enforcement crackdown on impaired driving during which Georgia law enforcement agencies step up their efforts to deter drunk driving. As the 4th of July holiday approaches and the Atlanta Braves play host to the Montreal Expos at Turner Field, the Governor's Office of Highway Safety and other safety advocates have joined forces to get the word out to fans and citizens about the importance of responsible drinking and always designating a sober driver. Enter through Main Gates. Cross the street and enter the first set of iron gates, this will place you in Monument Grove. Look for the statue of the numbers "21". Behind this statue is a set of glass doors. Enter through the glass doors and take the elevator to Club Level, designated as "L (Lexus) Level" elevator button. Upon exiting the elevator, you will enter the 755 Club Lobby. WHY: Nationally, almost 18,000 people were killed and over 500,000 were injured as a result of impaired driving in 2001. In Georgia, 1 out of 3 crash deaths are alcohol related. Males between the ages of 21-34 are the population identified by NHTSA as most at risk to drive drunk and many baseball fans fit this age group. Turner Field has a captive audience of 50,000 fans.
