Hyper Sport to Sponsor Chevy Grand Prix of Atlanta &
Petit LeMans
Atlanta, GA. – June 23, 2003 The Hyper Sport Panoz Esperante GT-LM not only will make its competitive
debut at the Chevy Grand Prix of Atlanta, but Hyper Sport will be named an official partner/sponsor of the June
event as well as the fall Petit Le Mans. As an official sponsor of the event, Hyper Sport intends to make a big splash
with their new effort in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS).
Elan Motor Sport Technology (EMT) in conjunction with the Hyper Sport team have begun shakedown
testing of the prototype Esperante GT-LM since the announcement of the program in March at the Mobil 1 12 Hours
of Sebring. EMT, owned by Dr. Don Panoz, is the development Company behind the GT-LM effort and will aid
Hyper Sport in engineering and mechanical support at the June race. “We’re very excited about this program and
are committed to fully supporting the development process as well as our first GT team partner, Hyper Sport,” offers
Dr. Donald Panoz. The testing and development program for the GT-LM will continue to include additional testing
hours as well as its first race at the Chevy Grand Prix of Atlanta in June. The few hours that Hyper Sport lead driver
Joe Foster has spent behind the wheel were focused on systems checks and initial tire research with technical
partner Pirelli Tire. Assembly of the 2nd car is well under way at EMT. This 2nd entry should join the fray later in the
season.
Hyper Sport will have a prominent presence at the Road Atlanta facility this June and October.
Hyper Sport partners; Pirelli Tire and Countrywide Home Loans will also be represented. Rick Skelton, Hyper Sport
Principal and driver, states, “Our objective is to give our sponsors the best bang for the buck. We are starting off the
season with the goal of building strong relationships and blending all the benefits of being part of the event as well as
a team partner”. Hyper Sport will create a full scale entertainment pavilion in the vendor village area at Road Atlanta.
The pavilion will include a stage for various live performances and broadcasts throughout the weekend including a
concert performance by the band “Jimmy La Fave” from Austin, Texas to be held Saturday evening of race weekend.
Of course, Hyper Sport VIPs will have the best seat in the house from atop the stage.
“We are really excited about this event. Hyper Sport has come a long way in such a short time and we are
thrilled about launching the GT-LM as well as setting our mark in the ALMS,” said team principal and driver, Brad
Nyberg. As an “Official Sponsor” of the Chevy Grand Prix of Atlanta and the Petit Le Mans, Hyper Sport plans to
take full advantage of the partnership to increase marketing potential for the team and to make a successful entry
into the 2003 American Le Mans Series. The team is creating a long term relationship with the Panoz organization
and by sponsoring these two race events, a mutually beneficial program is initiated.
