Nissan and Suzuki to Telematics

The Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported over the weekend that Nissan will link up with Suzuki Motor in a telematics service that enables map data and emergency messages to be received and transmitted through a car-mounted information terminal.

Nissan launched its Carwings telematics service in March last year and Suzuki will initially mount the Nissan device on its remodeled Wagon R minicar to be released this autumn, the Nikkei reported.

Telematics services provide the latest road and other information through terminals similar to a car navigation system. If someone suddenly feels ill or a car has a flat tire, the device can quickly inform a hospital or garage of the vehicle's location.
