Revolution Motorsports Ready for Second West Coast Outing
Hayner & Sak Like Their Chances
Sonoma, Calif. – June 20, 2003 – From one end of the country to the
other, the Revolution Motorsports team of Stu Hayner [#2 Trenton
Forging / GMAC Commercial Finance Corvette] and Bobby Sak [#10
Revolution Motorsports Corvette] like their as they head into the
weekend for the fifth round of the Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich
Tires Cup here at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California.
“I’m looking forward to running here,” said Bobby Sak, fresh of his
first Trans-Am podium finish [2nd] at last month’s Lime Rock event.
“This track’s got a little bit of everything. It’s very technical with
some pretty radical elevation changes and there are differences in the
track surface throughout the course. The only thing it doesn’t have is
passing room. You need to drive smart, be patient and let the race come
to you. I’ll let my teammate [Stu Hayner] set the strategy for this
one. He’s got some experience here.”
“Bobby makes a good point,” added Stu Hayner. “If you get too
aggressive this track will jump up and bite you. Patience is the key.
We need to get qualified as far up the grid as possible… passing room
is really tough here. If we can run the majority of the race with the
front group we’ll be able to keep a good car under us. That way,”
Hayner continued, “we’ll have something for the end of the race. That’s
the plan… be around for the last 5-10 laps and go for it.”
“Infineon is as pure a road racer’s track as you can get,” added
Hayner. “It’s a lot of fun and provides some real thrills. Going
through the esses or coming down the hill, you really find yourself
having to suck it up if you want to go fast. I love it here.”
Sak currently sits second in the Rookie of the Year Championship while
Hayner sits fourth in the Drivers Championship. Both are chasing Jorge
Diaz of Puerto Rico.
Appearing on the NASCAR schedule this weekend, the Trans-Am 100 will
run Sunday, June 22, immediately following the SaveMart 350 and will
air on SPEED Channel Friday, June 27.
Revolution Motorsports in association with Trenton Forging competes as
part of the Trans-Am Series for the BF Goodrich Tires Cup. All events
are nationally televised on SPEED. The Trans-Am Series is the oldest
form of American sports car racing.
