    NEW YORK--June 19, 2003--

Peterson Milla Hooks Wins the Gold Kelly Award and Campbell-Ewald Advertising Takes the Silver Kelly Award

Crispin Porter + Bogusky of Miami, FL has won the $100,000 Grand Prize Kelly Award from the Magazine Publishers of America (MPA) for its MINI "Launch Campaign." Peterson Milla Hooks of Minneapolis, MN received the Gold Kelly Award for its Target "Sign of the Times" campaign, and Campbell-Ewald Advertising of Warren, MI was awarded the Silver Kelly for its Chevrolet "Lyrics" campaign. The announcement was made by Ellen Oppenheim, Executive Vice President/Chief Marketing Officer, MPA.
The Kelly Awards honor magazine campaigns that demonstrate both creative excellence and effectiveness. The awards were presented for the first time at the Association of National Advertisers' (ANA) Print Advertising Forum in New York City.
"Every year Kelly winners raise the bar for excellence in magazine advertising, and this year is no exception," stated Ms. Oppenheim. "As evidenced by the Kelly winners and finalists, not only do magazine ads feature outstanding creative, but they do make a difference to the advertisers' bottom line."
This year the Kelly Awards program has been expanded to include a traveling gallery of the Kelly finalist campaigns, and a compilation of one-minute inspirational videos featuring the Kelly finalist creative teams. Last year, an online "Case Study Portfolio" of outstanding magazine creative was introduced on the MPA website, and a host of printed and digital materials highlighting the power of magazine advertising were developed and distributed to advertisers and agencies. And, as in previous years, the 2003 Kelly winners, finalists and judges will be spotlighted in Winners magazine, a partnership with Advertising Age, as well as in the Kelly Awards video.

The winners of the 22nd Annual Kelly Awards were announced during the luncheon of the full-day ANA conference at the Plaza Hotel. The Grand Prize Kelly was presented to Crispin Porter + Bogusky by Daniel B. Brewster, President & CEO, Gruner + Jahr USA. Nina Link, President & CEO, MPA awarded the Gold Kelly to Peterson Milla Hooks, and Jeffrey Burch, Advertising Director, Advertising Age gave Campbell-Ewald Advertising the Silver Kelly.
The MPA Kelly Awards are named for Stephen E. Kelly, a former MPA president who devoted his career to magazine publishing. He promoted the concept that creative magazine advertising made the difference in sales results--a concept that became the guiding principle for the MPA Kelly Awards. Each year, an agency is awarded the $100,000 Grand Prize Kelly. Beginning in 2002, the Gold Kelly and the Silver Kelly have also been awarded. Agencies are invited to submit their best magazine advertising campaigns from the previous year. A panel of judges comprised of America's top creative directors and leading advertising and marketing talent from client companies select twenty-five finalists. The winners are then chosen from these finalists.
Sponsors of this year's Kelly Awards include Advertising Age and Creativity, as well as TNS Media Intelligence/CMR, IMS and Adweek Magazines.
