Yellowstone National Park 'Rides' Away a Winner in Ford's Pick Your Park Sweepstakes
DEARBORN, Mich., June 18 -- Cancel that trip to Pakistan to see K2, the world's second highest peak. Outdoor adventurers looking to enjoy K2 now can find plenty in Yellowstone National Park ... K2 bicycles that is.
Ford Motor Company today announced that Yellowstone National Park would receive a set of K2 bicycles as the winner of Ford's Pick Your Park Sweepstakes. Nearly 11,000 elementary school students across the country voted on which National Park they would most like to visit as part of the contest.
Ford solidified its commitment as a Proud Partner of America's National Parks by celebrating National Park Week this year with the contest. Through the end of May, students were encouraged to log onto www.Ford.com/go/parks to learn more about America's National Parks and vote. Yellowstone National Park garnered the most votes (more than one-fifth of the total votes cast) and will receive a set of K2 bicycles that it can use to enhance contacts with visitors.
"Ford has long provided many of America's National Parks with innovative transportation solutions that benefit park visitors," said Jan Valentic, vice president, Global Marketing, Ford Motor Company. "Our National Parks are integral to the environmental landscape of this country, and we couldn't be happier for Yellowstone."
As a Proud Partner of America's National Parks, Ford Motor Company is working closely with the National Park Foundation and the National Park Service to help develop innovative transportation and environmental solutions that enable visitors to enjoy the more than 380 National Parks without compromising their beauty. Included in Ford's efforts is a longstanding partnership with bicycle manufacturer K2. Thanks to Ford, K2 bikes have provided many National Park explorers with an alternative form of pedal- powered transportation.
Since 1949, Ford Motor Company has been committed to improving the quality of those who live and work in the communities where Ford does business. As William Clay Ford, Jr. has stated, "A good company delivers excellent products and services. A great company delivers excellent products and services and strives to make the world a better place."
