Briggs & Stratton Unveils New Camouflage Outboard
MILWAUKEE--June 17, 2003--Outdoor enthusiasts can hit the great outdoors this fall with a new camouflage outboard motor from Briggs & Stratton. Officials at Briggs & Stratton announced the availability of the new Camouflage-Edition 5-horsepower, 4-cycle Outboard. The Camouflage-Edition Outboard offers numerous performance features and a superior quality camouflage appearance--all at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $849, significantly lower than other outboards without a camouflage option.
"The days of having to paint your own outboard or bothering with ill-fitting or destructible camouflage motor covers are history," says Tom Rugg, Briggs & Stratton marketing manager. "Now hunters and outdoor lovers can focus on enjoying their sport with a complete water-ready camouflage outboard instead of spending their time prepping and painting."
The new Camouflage-Edition Outboard follows the unique step taken by Briggs & Stratton earlier this year in creating an entirely new marine market category of affordable boating. The company is best known for designing, manufacturing and distributing engines in outdoor power equipment throughout the world.
"Water fowl hunters and other fall sports enthusiasts have asked for an easy, effortless and durable way to camouflage their outboards," added Rugg. "We responded with the Briggs & Stratton Camouflage-Edition Outboard: a product that not only saves hunters time and money, but delivers a superior quality camouflage appearance."
The Camouflage-Edition Outboard features Advantage Wetland's Max-4(R) high definition camouflage pattern. The unique grass and leaf patterns include colors that blend with fall marsh vegetation, making it transparent to the natural world. The Briggs & Stratton Outboard is also air-cooled--an important feature for duck hunters who want to avoid the clogging problems common with water-cooled outboards operating in murky hunting waters.
Designed for freshwater use, Briggs & Stratton's Camouflage-Edition Outboard delivers power and performance features suitable for numerous fall water activities. The lightweight outboard features a 4-cycle, 5-horsepower engine that provides ample power to navigate lakes and rivers and carry sporting gear. The Briggs & Stratton Outboard also features a forward-neutral-reverse gearshift for increased maneuverability and an electronic ignition for reliable starting. It also includes a three-gallon remote fuel tank that provides up to six hours of running time.
The Briggs & Stratton four-cycle overhead valve engine design is both user- and environment- friendly. In addition to offering improved fuel efficiency and easier starts, the four-cycle engine eliminates the need to mix gas and oil. The company's Outboards meet California Air Resources Board (CARB) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) emissions standards through 2006.
All Briggs & Stratton Outboards are also designed with numerous safety features, including a neutral start safety switch, a patented over-speed protection device and a push-button stop with safety lanyard that provide maximum operator control over the engine.
Beginning in June 2003, the 5 HP Camouflage-Edition Outboard will be available at select retail chains, as well as through participating Briggs & Stratton dealers throughout the country. More information on locating the retailer nearest to consumers is available at www.briggspowerproducts.com.
