Business Objects and Salesforce.com Team to Help Companies Maximize the Value of Their Customer Data

    SAN JOSE, Calif. & SAN FRANCISCO--June 17, 2003--

BusinessObjects Enterprise 6 Provides Joint Customers with Advanced Reporting and Analysis Capabilities, Including Customizable Dashboards

Business Objects , the world's leading provider of business intelligence (BI) solutions, and salesforce.com, the world leader in delivering software-as-service, today announced an alliance to help companies maximize the value of their customer data. Using BusinessObjects(TM) Enterprise 6, the industry's most integrated business intelligence suite, salesforce.com customers will now have easy access to advanced reporting and analysis capabilities for their customer information housed in salesforce.com.
As part of this alliance, Business Objects and salesforce.com have worked closely to integrate the two company's solutions. In addition, Business Objects and salesforce.com will conduct joint sales and marketing activities. While not sold through a software-as-service model, Business Objects has leveraged sforce, the salesforce.com client/service application development utility, to create a solution that complements the salesforce.com software-as-service approach.
Salesforce.com provides a powerful on-demand customer relationship management (CRM) solution that helps companies attract, grow, and retain profitable customers. BusinessObjects Enterprise 6 extends the reporting capabilities already provided by salesforce.com, by enabling customers to access their salesforce.com data to develop advanced reports and perform ad-hoc analysis of things such as customer trends and sales pipelines. In addition, Enterprise 6 enables the creation of customized, role-based dashboards for executives, managers, and individual employees to enable each user to see the information relevant to their job in a highly graphical manner. These dashboards enable companies to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and proactively alert users with the information they need -- helping to identify trends and issues sooner, potentially stopping these issues before they escalate.
"Enterprise companies can now leverage market-leading business intelligence software from Business Objects with our software-as-service CRM solution," said Marc Benioff, chairman and CEO of salesforce.com. "With BusinessObjects Enterprise 6, companies can extend the robust reporting and analysis capabilities native to salesforce.com, to create personalized dashboards and utilize other advanced analysis functions to maximize the value of their salesforce.com data."

Using salesforce.com Data Within an Overall Enterprise Performance Management Solution

BusinessObjects Enterprise 6 provides the ability to track, understand, and manage enterprise performance. Joint customers can use Enterprise 6 to combine salesforce.com data with their other corporate data to gain a complete view of their enterprise. The combined salesforce.com and Business Objects solution provides powerful analytics to gain the necessary customer and business insight to make better business decisions and optimize enterprise performance.
"Salesforce.com has established itself as one of the leaders in the enterprise customer relationship management space," said John Olsen, president and COO of Business Objects. "Through advanced reporting and analytics, including creating dashboards, Business Objects offers salesforce.com customers the ability to get even more value from their salesforce.com information. In addition, using Enterprise 6 to leverage the valuable customer data stored in salesforce.com with their other corporate data, companies also gain the insights necessary to improve the overall performance of their business."
