Hartzell Propeller Leverages MAPICS ERP Solution To Exceed Its Customers' Expectations; 95 Percent On-time Delivery Performance

ATLANTA--June 17, 2003--MAPICS, Inc. , the largest global provider of extended ERP, CRM and SCM solutions committed exclusively to solving the unique challenges of manufacturers, recently announced that long-time customer Hartzell Propeller has reached a world-class manufacturing milestone by improving on-time deliveries to 95 percent.
Hartzell Propeller Inc. designs, develops, tests, manufactures and supports constant-speed aluminum and composite propeller systems for the aviation industry worldwide. Founded in 1917 to work with the Wright Airplane Company, Hartzell currently supports more than 250,000 propeller systems in service today. Current products include two- to six-bladed propellers for aircraft ranging from 160 to 2,180 horsepower.
World-class manufacturers create and maintain compelling, long-term customer relationships by estimating demand accurately, delivering as promised and assuring quality. Hartzell Propeller uses MAPICS solutions to exceed customer expectations by anticipating the needs of the market and by "getting the customer what they want, when they want it," said Doug Wulf, director of manufacturing operations for Hartzell.
With the MAPICS solution Hartzell has improved its on-time delivery performance to 95 percent. MAPICS' flexible solution handles the complexities of Hartzell's manufacturing processes and addresses the intricacies of its individual industry. "The bottom line for us is that before we owned MAPICS, we shipped 50 percent on time, and after we implemented the MAPICS solution, we shipped 95 percent on time," said Hartzell's co-president, Joe Brown. "We also had lead times that measured in weeks and months. Now, our lead times are only a few days to a few weeks."
"Our partnership with Hartzell Propeller reinforces the essential role the MAPICS cornerstone solution plays in an organization's success and, more specifically, underscores MAPICS' role as a leading provider of enterprise solutions," said Jeff Cashman, chief marketing executive of MAPICS. "MAPICS remains strategically focused on honing in on the business processes of our manufacturing customers. The success that Hartzell has achieved is a good example of how MAPICS solutions can help a long-standing company with a solid heritage dating back to the Wright Brothers remain world class in today's challenging times."
MAPICS recently inducted Hartzell Propeller into the MAPICS World-Class Hall of Fame in recognition of its outstanding accomplishments in exceeding customer expectations.
