MatrixOne Provides PLM Solutions for Cummins Inc.; Leading Diesel Engine and Services Provider Drives Global Product Development Using MatrixOne's Collaborative PLM Environment
WESTFORD, Mass.--June 16, 2003--MatrixOne, Inc. , a leading provider of collaborative product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions for the value chain(TM), today announced that Cummins Inc., a leader in the manufacture of diesel engines, generators and filtration products, has expanded its use of MatrixOne solutions to provide a single global environment for engineering and program management across multiple Cummins divisions. After its initial MatrixOne implementation, Cummins is now applying MatrixOne solutions to standardize processes for new product introduction and engineering change management to ensure projects remain on schedule and drive global cost reductions. For more than 50 years, Cummins has managed engineering design information and standards that are physically located in several locations across the world. By deploying MatrixOne's collaborative PLM solutions, this critical information can now be easily and securely accessed by Cummins global network of employees, manufacturing plants and suppliers, which is expected to result in greater overall efficiency, productivity and cost savings.
Cummins is deploying MatrixOne Engineering Central(TM) and MatrixOne Program Central(TM) to provide a single global environment for product release and program management across multiple Cummins divisions. With this implementation, Cummins is extending its user base to include marketing personnel and program managers as well as expanding use among designers, engineers and suppliers. By establishing these standardized processes for global collaboration in the MatrixOne environment, Cummins expects to realize significant savings in its value package introduction (VPI) process, which ensures products are delivered on time and on budget.
"Cummins is a recognized visionary in the application of diesel power technology, and the company is now applying that visionary approach to how it develops its products from the earliest stages of design," said Mike Segal, MatrixOne's Senior Vice President of Customer Success. "By enabling a single PLM environment that eliminates the barriers between organizations, companies and geographies, MatrixOne solutions help companies like Cummins streamline the product development process, reduce costs and realize bottom-line benefits."
