Orbit Racing - Le Mans 12h

2003 24 Heures du Mans
race 18h - 15 June

third quarter

Orbit Racing was second in the GT class after 18 hours of the 24 Heures du
Mans. The No. 87 YES Network Porsche 911 GT3 RS driven by Leo Hindery, Peter
Baron and Marc Lieb was one lap behind the class-leading No. 93 Porsche and six
laps ahead of the trailing No. 75 Porsche.

Marc Lieb started a double stint at 12h50, took the class lead an hour later
and opened up a margin of almost two minutes. Leo Hindery drove the next
stint, holding second place. Peter Baron returned to the car at 16h10 and also
maintained second position until Lieb regained the wheel at 17h15.

"It's really a crazy race. So many cars have had problems," Lieb said. "But
it's good fun out there. Leading the 24 Hours of Le Mans - I can't describe
it, it's so cool! When I saw P1 [position one] on the pit board, I couldn't
believe it!"

"We have to knock on wood right now," Hindery said. "The car is running
superbly and the tires have been perfect all night. We're six laps up on third
place, so we're in good shape. Now we're into a Petit Le Mans or shorter race,
rather than a Sebring or Le Mans. We have to keep our fingers crossed -
there's a lot of luck in this sport."

"It's a bunch of crazy people out there. They're tired and making mistakes,"
Baron said of the crowded track. "We're positioned now where we'll have a
hard time to challenge the 93 car, but we have a strong lead over the 75 car.
So we just have to keep rotating [drivers], maintain a safe pace and take care
of the equipment."
