First Annual Green Ribbon Motorcycle Rally Rolls Into Chicago: Celebrity Appearance, Live Music and Prizes to Draw Biking Enthusiasts and Families
WHAT: In a first-ever warm-weather Chicago motorcycle rally, hundreds of motorcycle enthusiasts from the Chicagoland area will gather to display their prized machines, including groups of riders from Illinois Harley Davidson and the Latin American Motorcycle Association. Throughout the day there will be food, family entertainment, contests and a celebrity appearance by George Wendt (a.k.a. "Norm the Barfly") from the long-running sitcom Cheers. Sponsors include Chicagoland Toys For Tots Motorcycle Parade and the Chicago Building Trades Council. Mayor Richard M. Daley is serving as the honorary chair of the event. WHEN: 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2003 WHERE: Plumber's Hall 1340 W. Washington Street Chicago, IL WHY: Event proceeds will go to UIC's Digestive Disease and Liver Center. The Center has been hit with dramatic budget cuts over the last ten years, despite its status as a public university. The Center is dedicated to improving the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of gastrointestinal and liver diseases by conducting and providing advanced, cost-effective and compassionate patient care, exemplary research and high-quality education.
George Wendt and participating Chicagoland CEOs will be available to share their commitment to this cause. If interested in scheduling an interview or have any questions about the event, please call Leah Martin at 312-573-5491.
