VaST Adds Automotive Electronics Executive to Sales Team, Opens Office in Ann Arbor, Michigan
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--June 12, 2003--Ken Waichunas Joins VaST to Expand Market for Math-Based Design Flow
in the Automotive Industry
VaST Systems Technology Corporation, the leader in embedded systems development technology, today announced the appointment of Ken Waichunas as Director of Automotive Business Development for US. He will report to Dennis Heller, vice president of worldwide sales. In addition, VaST is opening a new sales and support office in Ann Arbor, Michigan to meet the needs of a growing customer base in the automotive industry.
Mr. Waichunas has both an MBA and a Bachelor of Aeronautical Engineering. A registered professional engineer in Michigan, he has 30 years of experience in the automotive industry, working in engineering, engineering management, operations, sales and marketing, and planning. Mr. Waichunas comes to VaST from Applied Dynamics, where he was vice president of sales and marketing. Before Applied Dynamics, he was director of central operations and later director of transportation marketing at Analogy, a software company that developed Saber for the simulation of mechatronic components. He also has held various positions in the automotive, truck and industrial industry divisions of the Eaton Corporation.
The automotive industry is going through a transition from hardware-based product development to a more formal math-based process. This transition is further complicated by the explosive growth in the amount of embedded software in a vehicle. These changes make it essential to accurately analyze electronic control units (ECUs) running embedded software. VaST's virtual platform technology delivers the infrastructure to quantitatively analyze architectures for ECUs and to verify the complex real-time software that runs within them.
"Ken understands the design flow," said Dennis Heller. "His experience and knowledge of the simulation needs for automotive electronics design make him invaluable as we increase our presence in this important industry."
Ken Waichunas said he joined VaST because the company provides the speed and accuracy needed for real-world engineering. "VaST's CoMET and METeor products provide the missing links that enable engineers to make the inevitable transition to math-based engineering," said Mr. Waichunas. "I look forward to introducing my colleagues to an engineering toolset fast enough to model and verify an entire system while maintaining timing accuracy across the hardware-software interface."
