Tronair Targets World-Class Results By Implementing MAPICS
ATLANTA--June 11, 2003--MAPICS, Inc. , the largest global provider of extended ERP, CRM and SCM solutions committed exclusively to solving the unique challenges of manufacturers, today announced that Tronair, Inc. has selected the MAPICS ERP for iSeries solution to streamline engineering processes and better manage production.
Holland, Ohio-based Tronair manufactures ground support equipment for aircraft of all types--from corporate jets to commercial airlines. The company's products include hydraulic jacks, tow bars, hydraulic power units, maintenance platforms and cabin pressure testing units.
Tronair selected MAPICS to replace its custom application mainly because MAPICS' manufacturing-focused solution best fit its business processes and could help the company increase its revenues by effectively addressing a number of challenges the company was facing. For example, Tronair is looking to reduce the amount of time the engineering department spends on existing products. The company also aims to reduce inventory, improve the management of outsourced processes, eliminate manual and redundant processes, and improve the bottom line through smart purchasing.
"We selected the MAPICS solution because it can provide us with the tools to overcome the challenges we're facing with our engineering, purchasing, outsourcing and inventory management processes," said Jeff Lee, secretary/treasurer of Tronair. "With MAPICS in place, we expect to make significant improvements throughout the enterprise. For example, we're striving to cut engineering time in half for existing products and reduce WIP by 25 to 50 percent. And with the improved scheduling, material planning, inventory tracking and costing capabilities MAPICS provides, we hope to improve efficiencies and reduce overtime costs by more than $100,000 per year."
Many of the goals Tronair is aiming to achieve have been identified by MAPICS as key areas that manufacturers must address in order to become world class. "A number of the seven critical business areas we focus on to help manufacturers be world class, such as cutting operations costs and managing the global enterprise, match up with those that Tronair needed to tackle," said Jeff Cashman, chief marketing executive for MAPICS. "The company's selection of a MAPICS solution to make these improvements validates our efforts to address such issues exclusively for manufacturers. We look forward to helping Tronair achieve its goals and growing with the company as it strives to increase its size and achieve world-class status."
Assisting Tronair throughout the implementation process will be Guide Technologies, one of the several independent companies that comprise MAPICS' global network of affiliates. These companies are authorized to sell MAPICS products and provide manufacturers around the world with the expertise and resources to successfully deploy MAPICS solutions.
