USAID's Bever To Receive Energy Leadership Award at 14th Annual Energy Efficiency Forum
WASHINGTON--June 9, 2003--James Andrew Bever, director of South Asian Affairs at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) will receive an Energy Leadership Award in conjunction with the 14th Annual Energy Efficiency Forum. He will be honored with the International Award, which recognizes current or former public officials who have encouraged energy efficiency internationally.
Bever will receive the award Tuesday, June 10 at a Congressional Reception at the Hart Senate Office Building. The Energy Efficiency Forum will take place the next day at the National Press Club.
Bever, who holds the Counselor rank in the U.S. Senior Foreign Service, has more than 25 years of experience in global energy activities. He currently administers foreign assistance with an emphasis on energy efficiency programs in Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Prior to that, he was Deputy Mission Director for USAID in New Delhi, India, where he also administered the South Asia Regional Initiative for Energy (SARI/Energy). Bever has also managed and advised energy programs in the former Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, Indonesia and Palestine.
The Energy Efficiency Forum is a nonpartisan event designed to raise awareness of the technical, economic and political solutions implemented to assure energy efficiency. The Forum is co-sponsored by the United States Energy Association and Johnson Controls, Inc.
