ChevronTexaco Global Lubricants' Expertise Sought at Upcoming Industry Events
SAN RAMON, Calif.--June 9, 2003--ChevronTexaco Global Lubricants (CTGL) today announced that two of its executives, Jim McGeehan, Global Manager of Diesel Engine Oil Technology and Gary Parsons, Commercial Automotive Business Unit Manager North American Lubricants, will be speaking at separate industry events this month. CTGL is committed to providing education on important lubricant market trends, issues and product developments. CTGL executives are involved in many industry associations and regularly share their expertise at important industry events.
TMC Diesel Engine Emissions Summit
Jim McGeehan will sit on the Lubricants and Coolants panel of the Diesel Engine Emissions Summit to be held on June 10, 2003 during the Technology and Maintenance Council's 2003 Summer Meeting in Phoenix, AZ. This summit will address the various factors that will impact the introduction of the new 2007/2010 engines and the aftertreatment and fuel-related aspects that will accompany this massive change. The Lubricants and Coolants Panel will discuss how lubricant and coolant manufacturers must redesign their products to meet new design requirements.
McGeehan will provide his expertise on API oil categories up to CI-4 for EGR engines, 2002 and 2003 new OEM specifications from Caterpillar, Cummins, Mack, and Volvo and the development of PC-10 for engine oils to be compatible with exhaust after-treatment for 2007, and PC-11 for 2010.
McGeehan is the Global Manager of Diesel Engine Oil Technology at ChevronTexaco. He is a certified engineer, member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (U.K.) and an SAE Fellow. As chairman of the ASTM Heavy-Duty Engine Oil Classification Panel, he helped establish the API oil-service categories CE, CF-4, CG-4, CH-4, and CI-4. McGeehan has won numerous SAE awards for his research and ASTM work.
ITS 2003 Diesel Engines & Beyond Panel
Gary Parsons will be part of the "Diesel Engines & Beyond" panel to be held on June 27, 2003 during the International Trucking Show in Las Vegas, NV. The panel of experts will explore the implications of the Environmental Protection Agency's emission standards from the perspective of Truck and Engine manufacturing, Lubricants and Fuels.
Mr. Parsons will provide his expertise on the impact of changing emissions regulations, engine designs, and exhaust after treatment devices on heavy duty engine oil formulating and marketing. Last year, the equipment and lubricants industries faced significant challenges in meeting new emissions standards while minimizing impact on the durability and serviceability of heavy duty engines. Future emissions regulations will be much more severe and are likely to place even higher demands on engine oils.
Mr. Parsons is responsible for managing the North America Commercial Automotive Business Unit at ChevronTexaco Global Lubricants. The Commercial Automotive group is responsible for product line management as well as marketing of Chevron and Texaco brand heavy duty lubricants. Parsons holds a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley and has been a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) since 1981.
