Clean Energy to Supply LNG to Valley Metro in Phoenix; Five-year Contract Valued at $34 Million

    SEAL BEACH, Calif.--June 9, 2003--Clean Energy, North America's leader in clean transportation (formerly ENRG), has been awarded the LNG (liquefied natural gas) supply contract for Valley Metro, which provides public transit service in nearly 20 communities in the greater Phoenix, Arizona metropolitan area.
    The five-year agreement is valued at more than $34,000,000 in revenue to Clean Energy and includes five additional one-year options.

    The Valley Metro partners -- City of Phoenix, City of Tempe, and the Regional Public Transportation Authority (RPTA) -- operate nearly 540 LNG-fueled buses, which currently use an estimated 8 million gallons of LNG per year. Usage is expected to grow to more than 11 million gallons per year in the fifth year of the contract.
