FERC'S Silverstein to Receive Energy Leadership Award at 14th Annual Energy Efficiency Forum; Public Service Award Recognizes Achievements and Advocacy

    WASHINGTON--June 6, 2003--Alison Silverstein, a senior adviser to the Chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), will receive an Energy Leadership Award in conjunction with the 14th Annual Energy Efficiency Forum. She will receive the Public Service Award for inspiring action to address energy efficiency in government.
    Silverstein, an adviser to FERC Chairman Pat Wood, III, will be honored June 10 at a Congressional Reception at the Hart Senate Office Building. The Energy Efficiency Forum will take place the next day at the National Press Club.
    Prior to joining FERC in 2001, Silverstein was adviser to Chairman Wood when he headed the Public Utility Commission of Texas and was active in the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners.
    Silverstein's award recognizes her role in increasing understanding of energy efficiency, renewables, distributed generation, demand response and new technology issues.
    The Energy Efficiency Forum is a nonpartisan event designed to raise awareness of the technical, economic and political solutions implemented to assure energy efficiency. The Forum is co-sponsored by the United States Energy Association and Johnson Controls, Inc.
    The United States Energy Association is comprised of approximately 150 public and private energy-related organizations, corporations and government agencies. It represents the United States in the World Energy Council.
