Rental Car Web Site Newly Rated Number One in Market Share Now Offers Service in Four Languages
PARSIPPANY, N.J., June 5 -- To help service the 12.7 million Hispanic internet users reported in the United States*, as well as customers worldwide, Avis Rent A Car System, Inc. today announced the introduction of Spanish and Portuguese language versions of its global web site, www.avis.com. Until this launch, the site offered English and French Canadian versions only.
The addition of the two new languages is intended specifically to ensure that Spanish and Portuguese speaking customers residing in the United States will have access to accurate information in their preferred language. However, the newly enhanced site can be accessed by Spanish and Portuguese- speaking users throughout the world, and now includes localized content and customized offers to customers in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Argentina and Brazil.
"These language enhancements will build upon Avis.com's position as the leading car rental site on the web," says Scott Deaver, executive vice president of marketing for Cendant Car Rental Group, the parent company of Avis.
According to comScore Networks' Competitor Performance Report of Car Rental Web Sites, Avis.com led the industry in revenue capturing 14.3 percent of the online car rental market** and averaging 1.5 million visits each month during the first quarter.
comScore also reported that Avis' online customers benefit from a reservation process that is 80 percent more efficient, than its nearest competitor, based on the number of pages it takes visitors to complete a booking. Additionally, Avis' online conversion rate is 35 percent better than the industry average for the number of visits resulting in bookings (Q1 2003 average).
"We're pleased to offer these new languages to customers who want to utilize avis.com in their own native language when booking a vehicle online," added Deaver. "The ability to provide service in Spanish and Portuguese increases awareness of the level of service Avis offers to an increasingly diverse market throughout the United States and internationally."
To make a reservation in Spanish, Portuguese or French, customers should visit the homepage of www.avis.com and enter their language preference. For service in additional countries and languages not found on www.avis.com, visit www.avisworld.com.
