Dow Corning Electronics Introduces New Adhesives To Help Automotive Suppliers Reduce Costs
MIDLAND, Mich., June 4 -- Dow Corning Electronics has introduced new silicone adhesives that help automotive suppliers accelerate manufacturing throughput, while lowering operational costs.
The company's two new products, Dow Corning EA-6052 Fast Low Temp Cure Adhesive and Dow Corning EA-6054 Thixotropic Fast Low Temp Cure Adhesive, seal electronic control modules that regulate automotive systems, such as engines and braking systems. Modules are sealed with adhesives to protect them in harsh environments.
"Automotive suppliers and their OEM customers are always looking for ways to squeeze more costs out of their operations, especially in today's difficult economic climate," said Stephen Crane, electronics global market segment leader, Dow Corning Electronics. "These new adhesives are yet another example of Dow Corning Electronics' commitment to providing customers with more choices. Automotive suppliers now have more durable solutions for safeguarding sensitive electronic components in extreme environmental conditions."
Dow Corning EA-6052 and Dow Corning EA-6054 enable faster throughput because they both have faster cure times than the industry standard. A shorter curing period shortens cycle times, enabling the production of more modules in the same amount of time. Accelerated curing also allows manufacturers to use ovens that are shorter and require fewer fixtures than standard ovens, reducing start-up capital costs. Shorter ovens have a smaller footprint, freeing up floor space for other operations.
Additionally, Dow Corning EA-6052 and Dow Corning EA-6054 can reduce operational costs with lower cure temperatures than the industry standard. The products allow manufacturers to use low-cost plastics that cannot be used with adhesives that have higher cure temperatures. Users can also choose to maintain the temperature with these two products.
