Rain Washes Out Milwaukee Qualifying

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (May 30, 2003) - Luis Diaz suffered through a
couple of days of frustration at The Milwaukee Mile but his biggest
frustration may have come from a pole position he will never realize. Dark
clouds and cool winds swirled around the 1.032-mile oval while Diaz ran the
fastest qualifying lap and a potential pole. Then a vicious rain storm
struck and Diaz's time that propelled the Telmex Swift 014.a to an average
speed of over 148 miles per hour disappeared as quickly as the rubber laid
down on the track throughout the day.

As only irony can be, teammate Kyle Krisiloff didn't get a chance
to qualify but landed a race start in row two. Diaz will be relegated to
start ninth but in one of the field's fastest cars - again!

Despite the best efforts of CART Toyota Atlantic Championship
officials, which included moving the start time of qualifying up 15
minutes, qualifying for Saturday's Milwaukee Mile Centennial 250 Presented
by Miller Lite was deemed a rain-out after only eight cars made qualifying
attempts.

As a result, the starting grid was established based on combined
practice speeds, giving second-year driver Ryan Dalziel, of Scotland, his
second career CART Toyota Atlantic Championship pole position. Dalziel
posted the fastest practice lap of the weekend at 149.571 mph (24.839
seconds), which gave the Scot his first pole since taking the top starting
spot in the 2002 CART Toyota Atlantic Championship season finale at Denver.
However, while Dalziel will be credited with the pole, he will not receive
a championship point due to the fact that the qualifying session was
incomplete.

Starting alongside Dalziel on the front row will be Canadian
Jonathan Macri, who turned in a best practice lap of 149.193 mph (24.902
seconds).

Krisiloff, 17, of Carmel, Ind., will make his official Atlantic
debut with Dorricott Racing in the No. 31 U.S. Grand Prix Formula One Swift
from fourth on the grid. In his first ever Toyota Atlantic appearance on an
oval, Krisiloff posted a best practice lap of 148.394 mph (25.036 seconds),
eclipsing his previous best starting position (12th) by eight starts. This
will also be Krisiloff's first career start for the defending Toyota
Atlantic Champions.

Diaz's best practice time of 147.282 mph (25.225 sec.) was much
slower than his qualifying lap but definitively showed he is more than
capable of winning.

Saturday's race day will see the Atlantic cars on track for a
15-minute warm-up session beginning at 12:45 p.m. Round 3 of the 12-race
2003 CART Toyota Atlantic Championship, the Milwaukee Mile Centennial 250
Presented by Miller Lite, is scheduled to take the green flag at 5:00 p.m.
CT.
