NASCAR Returns To Pacific Raceways With A Little Help From Chevy

Inaugural Northwest Chevy Dealers NASCAR 150 Race To Be Held August 22-24 As Part Of The Raybestos Brakes NW Tour Series, NASCAR Elite Division

Kent, WA - After 17 years, NASCAR racing will return to Pacific Raceways with the Northwest Chevy Dealers NASCAR 150, a new stop on the Raybestos Brakes NW Tour Series, a NASCAR Elite Division. Scheduled for August 22-24, the Northwest Chevy Dealers NASCAR 150 is the only road-course event on the 2003 schedule of the Raybestos Brakes NW Tour Series - one of four regional NASCAR series which includes the Hills Brothers All Pro, Featherlite Southwest and the RE/MAX Challenge Series.

"We are thrilled that the Northwest Chevy Dealers have signed on to be title sponsor of this inaugural event," said Jason Fiorito, president of Pacific Raceways. "It is sponsors like the Northwest Chevy Dealers that make bringing NASCAR back to Pacific Raceways possible. Our fans will appreciate the racing excitement, and we look forward to the partnership to make this event one of the most anticipated in the Pacific Northwest."

As part of the new relationship with Pacific Raceways, Chevrolet will also provide a 2003 Monte Carlo SS with specialty decaling as the official pace car for the Northwest Chevy Dealers NASCAR 150.

"The Northwest Chevy Dealers NASCAR 150 is a great opportunity to bring NASCAR racing to fans throughout the Northwest and we can't wait for the action," said Scott Conway, Chevrolet's local area marketing manager for the Pacific Northwest.

Pacific Raceways, which was founded in 1960, has undergone more than $10 million in improvements over the past two years. The renovation included separating the road track from the drag strip so that each course is now independent and certified. In addition, replaced and expanded grandstands and new terraced viewing areas overlooking key turns and the backside of the road course will allow for upwards of 25,000 race spectators.

The last NASCAR road-course event at Pacific Raceways was the 1986 Winston West Series in which Dale Earnhardt Sr. raced to victory.

"To increase the excitement, we are actively looking into additional race sponsors and the potential for a TV or radio broadcast," said Fiorito. "And don't be surprised if a familiar motorsports face helps fuel excitement on the track too."

Tickets for the event are now on-sale through Ticketmaster via phone or online at www.ticketmaster.com. A three-day general admission pass is $55 per person; $65 for the VIP area. Individual tickets are also available.

Pacific Raceways is located at 31001 - 144th Avenue SE. Gates for the Northwest Chevy Dealers NASCAR 150 open at 8 a.m. on Friday-Saturday, August 22-23 and at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 24. For more information about the race, visit www.pacificraceways.com.
