Kalfact Plastics Secures Multi-Million Dollar Contract with Magna Donnelly

    ROCKFORD, Mich.--May 27, 2003--

Investments in Plant, Systems, Processes Laid Foundation to Secure Engagement

Kalfact Plastics Company, a Michigan injection molder specializing in multi-shot molding, has won a multi-million dollar contract with automotive supplier Magna Donnelly Corporation, Kalfact officials announced today. Kalfact will manufacture exterior rearview mirror brackets for Magna Donnelly. The mirrors are primarily used on vehicles built by Honda and Toyota.
Kalfact general manager Ken Trupke attributed the company's ability to secure new business from Magna Donnelly to Kalfact's commitment to and execution of a long-term growth strategy.
"Like virtually every custom injection molder, we've faced some difficult times in this tough economy," Trupke said. "But we made a strategic decision a few years back to make significant investments in the systems and technologies we believe are essential to supporting future growth. These investments have enabled us to hit the ground running as we've secured new business."
Added Trupke, "The financial strength and commitment of our parent company, GCI, has been instrumental to our ability to implement this strategy. GCI is committed to building a plastics company that can enjoy sustained, profitable growth in an increasingly competitive global marketplace."
Magna Donnelly is a division of Magna International Inc., one of the most diversified automotive suppliers in the world. Trupke said Kalfact won the business based on its expertise in the automotive industry and proven experience in injection molding.
"We're excited to partner with Magna Donnelly," Trupke said. "Our certification in the automotive industry certainly played a key role in winning this business, as did our ability to transfer Magna Donnelly's tools quickly and effectively."
