Crisp, Becker Take Demo Wins
Franklin, Wis., May 26 â“ The Memorial Day Demolition Derby tradition
continued at the Hales Corners Speedway where Ryan Crisp and Ed Becker blasted their
way through over 125 other destruction minded competitors to take the wins in
the Lightweight and Heavyweight feature events Monday afternoon.
The derby started off with the popular rollover contest which saw Dave
Henzel and Earl Roberts toss and turn to a tie in the record setting 22 car
field. Surprisingly, no other participant was able to roll his or her car.
Due to the large number of vehicles entered, heat derby's were run on
both the east end of the speedway as well as the west end throughout the day.
Heat winners on the east end were Doug "Wang" Lang, Tim "The Pencil" Schaefer,
Joel "Show-Me" Schuman and James "Motel" Gest. Steve "Luber" Huebner, Chad
"Pixel" Foti, and Nick "Bowlingball" Fluery all had heat wins on the west end.
Marni "Psycho-Ward" Brown was crowned the Queen of the Derby in the Powder Puff
class, with Nick "Hank" Aron overcoming the competition in the
truck/van/schoolbus/RV/ambulance class.
Upon completion of the heat events, all remaining car or vehicles that
ran entered the final two features. Crisp overcame over thirty other vehicles
in the small car class, and Becker pounded his way through about 37 cars in the
heavyweight class.
