REMINDER/High-Speed Train Board to Consider Eliminating Options Along San Clemente Beach and Del Mar Bluffs

    --California High-Speed Rail Authority

WHO: California High-Speed Rail Authority
WHEN: Tuesday, May 27, 9:00 a.m.
WHERE: Irvine City Hall, City Council Chambers, One Civic Center Plaza, Irvine
INFO: In what should put to rest the hotly contested debate over options for connecting San Diego and Orange Counties to the state's proposed high-speed train system, the California High-Speed Rail Authority will vote on the elimination of some of the conventional rail design options along the LOSSAN corridor. Most notably, the board will consider an inland route that avoids the Del Mar Bluffs, the beach at San Clemente, and the historic district in San Juan Capistrano. Mayors and other local officials will testify about their position on the new conventional train route proposed for connection to the HSR terminal in Los Angeles.
Other key subjects of the meeting include:

-- A review of the schedule and anticipated release of the 700-mile high-speed train system's environmental impact report (EIR) -- the largest project environmental review ever undertaken in the country.
-- An overview of design options being considered for integration of high-speed train service into Union Station in Los Angeles.
