American Axle Selects I.D. Systems, Inc. for Wireless Industrial Fleet Management Program

HACKENSACK, N.J., May 27, 2003 -- I.D. Systems, Inc. announced today that American Axle & Manufacturing Holdings, Inc. has ordered an initial deployment of I.D. Systems' Wireless Asset Net(TM) industrial fleet management system at one of its Michigan plants. American Axle, which in 2002 established record sales and earnings of $3.5 billion and $176.1 million, respectively, has a total of 14 locations in the United States as well as offices and facilities in Brazil, England, Germany, Japan, Mexico, and Scotland.

"We are delighted to begin a relationship with another leading automotive industry customer," said Rick Muntz, I.D. Systems executive vice president of sales and marketing. "American Axle will be joining Ford, DaimlerChrysler, Toyota, and other leaders in the automotive industry who have derived substantial safety and operational benefits from our wireless industrial vehicle management technology. We look forward to building on this initial implementation program and helping American Axle solidify its position as a premier Tier One automotive driveline systems supplier focused on leading-edge process technologies."

The Wireless Asset Net is designed to improve safety and security by restricting vehicle access to trained and authorized operators (as required by OSHA) and providing electronic safety inspection checklists. The system is designed to reduce maintenance expenses by automatically uploading vehicle data, reporting problems identified on checklists in real time, scheduling maintenance according to actual vehicle usage rather than on a calendar basis, and helping management determine the optimal economic time to replace equipment.
